MARAC Publications Committee
Mission and Goals The mission of the Publications Committee is to plan, coordinate, and distribute all MARAC publications.
The Committee acts an advisory/editorial board for the Mid-Atlantic Archivist, the Technical Leaflets series, and other operations. Its functions include: reviewing proposed items for content and style, soliciting advertisements, soliciting new materials from prospective authors, ensuring that adequate supplies of MARAC publications are available, recommending republication where appropriate, and marketing MARAC publications. The Committee ensures that a copy of each MARAC publication is forwarded to the MARAC Archives.
Subject to the approval of the Steering Committee, the Publications Committee develops budgets for new publications by June 1 of each year. This budget process includes recommending the prices for all MARAC publications.
The Committee also oversees marketing of MARAC publications including advertising and exhibiting at professional meetings. All publications income will be forwarded to the MARAC Treasurer with sufficient information to permit proper crediting of the sales of publications.
The Committee will maintain and update the MARAC website.
One member of the Committee, appointed by the MARAC Chair, serves on the Student Essay Award Committee with an appointed member from the Education Committee.
Operations The Publications Committee consists of five members appointed by the MARAC Chair, plus the Mid-Atlantic Archivist editor, the advertising editor, the Technical Leaflets series editor, one of the Webmasters, for a total of nine members. Committee members not appointed because of their particular standing in MARAC serve two-year staggered terms and may be reappointed for one additional term.
